How to Wash Colorfulkoala Leggings

Colorfulkoala is a sportswear brand that specializes in leggings. With that said, they also offer shorts. In fact, there are several different styles to choose from. Where can you find their products? On their official website. Alternatively, you can buy them from their Amazon shop.

More About Colorfulkoala

Colorfulkoala is a relatively new brand that was founded in 2018. Ultimately, their goal is to provide women with high-quality gear that’s both comfortable and affordable. One thing that sets them apart from other companies is that they have their own supply chain. In other words, they don’t outsource their production.

If anything, that’s one of the reasons why they’re so popular. Not only do they provide safe working conditions for their workers, but they’re also environmentally responsible.

What Kind of Gear Do They Offer?

Colorfulkoala offers a variety of leggings in different lengths. For example, you can get them in 7/8” or capris style. Full length is an option as well, of course. Aside from that, they also sell shorts that are made from the same material as their leggings.

One great thing about their pants is that they’re budget-friendly. In fact, almost all of their items are under $30. What’s more, is that you get free shipping so you don’t have to pay anything extra on top of that (yes, they ship internationally as well). For those who are thinking about getting their leggings—don’t forget to sign up for their newsletter. Every once in a while, they’ll send out exclusive promotions that you can take advantage of.

Taking Care of Colorfulkoala Leggings

All of the products are made from high-quality fabrics that are designed to last. Like all clothes, however, it’s important that you care for them properly, otherwise, they can wear out prematurely. For one thing, you want to make an effort of washing them ASAP after each wear. You don’t want to give bacteria a chance to multiply on the fabric because they will if you let them.

As it is, however, there’s a certain way to wash their leggings. Do it properly and they’ll last you a long time! The flip side is also true—that is, they can easily be ruined during the laundering process.

Want to make sure that you’re washing them correctly? Then you’re on the right page—we’ll be going over how to wash their leggings in detail below. So make sure to read until the end!

ColorfulKoala Activewear Materials

Their leggings are made from 75% polyester and 25% spandex. Why are they used together? What properties do they have? Let’s have a look.

Polyester

Polyester is much more durable than natural fibers such as cotton. A manmade fiber, it’s resistant to many things including stains, abrasion, chemicals, and more. On top of that, it’s moisture-wicking. In other words, sweat won’t be left on your skin—it’ll be pulled toward the surface where it can evaporate. As such, you won’t feel clammy while working out. Despite all that, however, it’s not a very flexible material. For this reason, it’s often mixed with spandex, which gives it more stretch.

Spandex

Spandex is known by a couple of other names including elastane and Lycra. Prized for its elasticity, it’s often used for skin-tight garments such as leggings, leotards, etc. Aside from being durable and strong, it’s also resistant to perspiration. The only thing is that it’s sensitive to heat. On top of that, it tends to stick to your body. This is one of the reasons why it’s almost never used by itself. Instead, it’s blended with other textiles such as cotton or polyester.

How Do You Wash ColorKoala Leggings

We mentioned this already but it’s important that you wash your Colorkoala leggings as soon as you can. After all, there’s probably sweat on the fabric. The last thing that you want to do is to let it “marinate”. Here are a couple of ways to wash them so that they’ll be nice and clean again:

1st Method: Put Your Colorkoala Leggings Into the Washing Machine

Colorkoala leggings are machine washable. As with other activewear, you want to turn them inside-out to wash. Not only will that protect the outer surface but it’ll also expose the gunky inside to the water and detergent. You can wash the leggings with other items as long as you’re not mixing darks with lights.

While it’s fine to put the items in by themselves, it’s much better to use a laundry bag. Made from a mesh material, they’ll prevent your leggings from being damaged, which is especially important if you have a mixed load. Make sure that it’s sealed properly before tossing it into the machine.

Pro-tip: You can always soak your leggings first before putting them in the washer. For the best results, use cold water with half a cup of white vinegar added. Let them sit for 15 to 30 minutes before machine washing.

Once you’ve loaded everything in, add a scoop of ACTIVE detergent. Do not put more than you need as it can do more harm than good. For one thing, the detergent might not get washed out completely, which can cause skin irritation.

Proceed to wash everything on a cold water cycle using a gentle or delicate setting. Skip the fabric softeners. It might reduce fabric piling but it’ll also compromise the moisture-wicking finish.

Start the washing machine and let the wash cycle run. When it’s finished, take them out of the mesh bag and hang dry. Never use the clothes dryer as the heat will shrink your leggings.

2nd Method: Washing Your Colorkoala Leggings By Hand

Handwashing is much gentler than using the machine. It might be a little extra work, but it’s well worth it. Start by filling a sink with lukewarm water. Add in some ACTIVE detergent and mix until it’s combined (easiest way is to just mix it with your hand). It should end up being super bubbly.

Place the leggings in the sink. If needed, you can always press down on the item to ensure that it’s fully submerged. Gently scrub them by rubbing the fabric against itself. From there, allow them to soak for 15 to 20 minutes. This is important as it gives the detergent a chance to break down the body oils and sweat that’s embedded in the fabric.

Swish them around a couple of times before draining the soapy water from the sink. Pick up the items and rinse them directly under the running tap. The water should eventually run clear instead of cloudy. Alternatively, you can re-fill the sink with clean water and rinse it that way.

Press out the excess water with your hands. Do not wring the leggings like a towel as that can compromise the fabric. Finally, allow them to air dry. You can either hang them up or lay them flat.

Getting Stains Out of Colorkoala Leggings

There’s nothing worse than getting a great big stain on your leggings. Fortunately, you can wash them out. Generally speaking, the sooner the better. The longer you wait, the deeper it’ll set in.

As with hand washing, you want to start by mixing some ACTIVE detergent with water. Instead of doing it in the sink, however, just do it in a small bowl. After all, you’ll only be using the mixture on the stain. Make sure that the powder is completely dissolved before proceeding to the next step.

Dip an old toothbrush into the bowl—you want to saturate the bristles with the detergent solution. From there, use it to scrub the stain. You don’t want to be too rough on it as it can harm the fabric. Instead, use gentle motions. To prevent the stain from spreading, make sure that you scrub from the outside to the inside.

Hold the stained area under a running tap to rinse away the detergent. Examine the spot afterward. If the stain is still visible, repeat the scrubbing. Eventually, it should come right off. That’s when you can toss it in the washer (or wash it by hand).

The Best Laundry Detergent For Colorkoala Leggings

You can use a regular detergent but it won’t be very effective at cleaning your leggings. This has to do with the fact that they’re not able to penetrate deep into the polyester-spandex material to remove sweat and oils.

To do that, you need to use a product that’s specifically engineered for activewear—something like ACTIVE detergent. As you can probably tell by the name, it’s formulated specifically for sportswear. Of course, that includes leggings.

The key to its efficacy lies in its ingredients. Unlike run of the mill detergents, it contains enzymes aka tiny proteins, which allows it to physically dissolve and remove gunk such as sweat, dirt, etc. In doing so, you won’t have to worry about bacteria building up. As an added bonus, it also contains chelating agents that help to restore the fibers back to the original state afterward.

The best part is that the formula is also 100% natural. It does not contain any icky chemicals that can harm your health. Not only that, but it’s better for the environment as well.
