Taking Care of Balance Athletica Gear

There are a few things that you want to keep in mind when it comes to their clothes (or activewear in general). For starters, it’s important that you wash them after each wear. Assuming that you’ve worked out, there will likely be sweat on the fabric, and if you leave it there, it can wear out the fibers. Not to mention that it’d smell.

And be careful how you wash them. Certain items such as sports bras are more delicate and require more attention when it comes to washing. Need some help? Then keep scrolling—we’ll be going over how to wash their athletic gear in detail below.

What Materials Do They Use For Their Activewear?

Most, if not all of their clothes are made from technical fibers aka synthetic materials. Here’s what you need to know about them.

Nylon

Nylon is strong and durable, which makes it suitable for leggings and other activewear. Not only that but it’s recognized for being stretchy and flexible. However, it does have drawbacks. Not only is it prone to static buildup, but it’s also sensitive to heat.

Spandex

Spandex (Lycra) is known for its extraordinary elasticity; it’s capable of returning to its original shape after stretching much faster than other fabrics. On top of that, it resists perspiration. However, it’s never used alone. It’s always blended with other fabrics such as cotton or polyester; this gives the original fabric extra flexibility.

Polyester

Polyester is strong and durable with high mechanical resistance. Also, it holds up well to repeated washing. On top of that, it dries quickly. However, it’s not very breathable and tends to stick to the skin. It’s also incredibly heat-sensitive and can burn or melt if exposed to high temperatures.

How to Wash Balance Athletica Leggings

You can throw their leggings into the washer or wash them by hand, either way works.

Method 1: Throwing the Leggings Into the Washing Machine

Empty out the pockets—make sure that nothing is left inside. Once you’ve done that, turn the leggings inside out; that will prevent the outer layer from fading during the wash cycle. While you can put them directly in the machine, we highly recommend using a laundry bag. It’ll add a ‘physical barrier’ so that your leggings won’t snag on your other items.

Zip up the bag with the item inside and place it in the machine. Do the same for the rest of your clothes. Next, add your detergent; one scoop of ACTIVE detergent will suffice unless you’re washing a large load (feel free to add more if that’s the case).

Tip: Avoid fabric softener. It’ll coat your leggings with a waxy substance that’ll trap in dirt and sweat. White vinegar can be used instead if you want to soften them up—just add one cup during the final rinse cycle.

Run a cold wash cycle on a gentle/delicate setting. Retrieve your leggings as soon as it’s finished and hang them up to dry. Avoid using the dryer; the heat can damage the technical fibers. Also, avoid hanging them in the sun. The UV rays can bleach the fabric.

Method 2: Handwashing Your Leggings In the Sink

Prepare your leggings. Empty the pockets and turn them inside out. Set them aside.

Fill a sink approx. half full with cold water. Mix in 1/2 a scoop of ACTIVE detergent to create a soapy solution. You can swish the water with your hand to help the powder dissolve.

Place your leggings in the solution once the detergent is completely dissolved. Swirl it in the water a few times to loosen the dirt and let it sit and soak for up to 30 minutes. That’ll let the detergent work into the fibers.

After soaking, rinse the leggings with cold water. The goal is to rinse off all of the soap suds. You can either hold them under the tap or rinse them in the sink after refilling it with clean water. Either way, you want to continue until the water runs clear.

Gently press the excess moisture out of the fabric. Allow them to air dry, ideally on a laundry rack or clothesline. Keep them away from direct sunlight.

Washing Balance Athletica Sports Bras The Right Way

Sports bras fall into the ‘delicate’ category. Here’s how to wash them without ruining the elastic:

Method 1: Using the Washer For Balance Athletica Sports Bras

Turn the bra inside out and place it in a laundry bag. That will prevent it from stretching or snagging on other items during washing. Never put a sports bra directly into the washer without a bag—the agitation will cause it to wear out quickly.

Tip: Take out the pads (assuming that they’re removable) and pop them in the same laundry bag. You can put them back in the bra once they’re completely dry.

Zip up the mesh bag and put it in the washer. Do the same with the rest of your laundry (you can wash sports bras with other delicate items as long as you’re not mixing colors). Once everything is in, pour in the detergent—one scoop of ACTIVE detergent powder will do the trick. Skip the softener and bleach, you won’t need those.

Choose a gentle wash cycle. Remember to use cold water; hot water can damage the sports bras’ elastic fibers and that can ruin the fit.

Allow the sports bra to air dry once the cycle is finished. We recommend using a laundry rack in a well-ventilated area. Never tumble dry; the heat will ruin the fabric.

Method 2: Hand Washing Balance Athletica Sports Bras

Prepare a sink. Fill it halfway with cool water and mix in half a scoop of ACTIVE detergent. Swish the water a few times with your hand—you should end up with lots of bubbles.

Take out the pads and turn the bra inside out. Place it ink the sink so that it’s completely covered by the soapy water. You can swirl it a few times to help work in the detergent and loosen any dirt. Let it soak for half an hour.

Wash off the soap by rinsing the sports bra under running water; it should run clear when you’re finished. If you want, you can also rinse it in the sink (you’ll have to drain the dirty water and replace it with fresh water). Continue until there’s no more soap film.

Gently press on the bra to remove the excess water. Never twist the fabric—that will ruin the elastic permanently. If necessary, you can roll the bra up in a towel instead. That’ll extract the moisture within the fibers.

Once the excess water is out, hang it up to dry. You can use a laundry rack or a clothesline. Like we said earlier, avoid tumble drying.

Washing Guide For Balance Athletica Hoodies

Method 1: Using the Washing Machine For Your Balance Athletica Hoodie

Start by turning the hoodie inside out. Also, make sure to zip up the zippers—that’ll keep it from snagging on other pieces of clothing. And if you can, use a laundry bag. That’ll keep it looking new for longer.

Place the laundry bag in the washing machine. Add the rest of your clothes (you can wash the hoodie with other activewear as long as they’re of similar colors). Avoid washing them with towels as the lint can stick on the hoodie.

Add one scoop of ACTIVE detergent and wash using cold water on a gentle cycle. Allow the washer to run and retrieve your hoodie once the cycle is finished. Don’t leave it inside for too long, otherwise, bacteria will grow and your hoodie will smell.

Transfer the hoodie to the dryer (always check the care tag label first) and dry on low heat. Or if you want, you can let it air dry.

Method 2: Hand Washing Your Balance Athletica Hoodie

Fill a sink (make sure that it’s big enough to fit your hoodie) with cold water. Add 1/2 a scoop of ACTIVE detergent powder and help it dissolve by swishing the water with your hand.

Zip up the hoodie and place it in the sink, inside-out. Swish and swirl it through the water before letting it soak for 20 to 30 minutes.

Drain the sink and refill it with fresh water. Use it to rinse the shampoo off the hoodie. You may have to repeat this a few times. When you’re finished, press the hoodie gently against a towel to remove the excess water. Don’t twist to wring the water out—that can compromise its shape.

Tip: You can speed up the drying process by rolling up the hoodie in a towel.
